A Temporary Break from The Continent

August 27, 2009

A few days off the grid. Off the continent. Adrift, but anchored.

Sixty-three feet of aluminum, wood, plastic, it’s own island, and a place so close but so far from what the norm has created. The best part. No signal. No phone, computer, or anyone else with a phone or computer. Just talk, silence, books, journals and the sometimes not so gentle rocking of the temporary home.

Looking up the steep shoreline, other boats, mostly wind powered, anchoring, bobbing. What a life. Wouldn’t take much, more than time, energy and a willingness to drop out. Two-thirds of the Earth has no grid. Something I find great comfort in.
