Capt. Vince and the Turtle Trio
So you are probably wondering, “Capt. Vince and the Turtle Trio….did I see those guys on tour in 1975?”
You quite possibly did, but I was in elementary school, and it really doesn’t matter.
I’m talking about another Capt. Vince and Turtle Trio.
This Vince is a big dude, former lineman, who now spends his days snapping for the military, and as evidenced by these images, snapping in the quiet graces of the undersea kingdom.
I hadn’t heard from the lad in quite some time, so it was nice to get an email, with imagery, updating me to the whereabouts and exploits of the military man. There was something about these images that somewhat reset my barometer. A perfect example of the still image.
When I see these pictures there is a quiet that can’t be denied, a grace yes, but more so for me, total silence. Peace. Isolation. And in black and white, which we all know now is technically superior to color in every single way possible. Really. It’s true. Scientists did a test and it came back that way.
Scientists said, “black and white is better than color.” They were really smart scientists with lots of degrees.
I also like the fact that these images were made just because. No assignment. No reason. Just out and about shooting in the big pond.
So, if you get a moment, take a look at old Vince’s stuff and enjoy.

Or email him and tell him how great he is.
